Great North Transport (SOC)Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of LEDA (Limpopo Economic Development Agency) lieda.co.za, established after the amalgamation of Gazankulu transport (Pty)Ltd Far North Bus Services; and Lebowa Transport (SOC) Ltd in 1996. The company launched operating reliable bus transport services in Limpopo and some parts of Mpumalanga and Zimbabwe.
Great North operates a fleet of 540 buses, travels 36 million kms and transports over 37.6 million passengers per year. At present the company renders services within the 5 district municipalities, in Limpopo Mpumalanga (Bohlabela district) and Zimbabwe (Harare), and have 11 depots: Seshego, Mokopane, Bapedi, Phalaborwa, Marble Hall, Giyani, Motetema, Hoedspruit, Tzaneen, Bushbuckridge and Makhado.
The company employed 1271 personnel, including professional, administration and technical support staff. Yearly the company employs over 20 Interns to develop and contribute towards skills development and empowerment of the youth We accomplished our mission by adhering to the 5 cornerstones up on which Great North buses was founded, Safety, Quality, Reliability, Dependability, and Affordability.
